Classical Education: Teaching childen how to learn and providing the foundation for knowledge.
Classical education uses the trivium, a system for training the mind.
A twelve year education is divided into three four year patterns. The purpose of this is to cover the same studies at three different levels during the child's schooling.
What makes classical education such a wonderful option?
Structured learning
Flexible enough to encompass advanced or struggling students and also allows a child to begin when they are ready
Subjects are integrated so that learning is a whole experience
Literature rich
Real books can be used instead of dry texts for some subjects
Flexible enough to allow more modern techniques like visual and hands on activities without detracting from the focus on classical techniques or placing too much emphasis on computers and videos
Brings families together for learning through reading together,apprenticeship training, taking nature walks and having educational life experiences
Notebooking, this technique works well with classical education as one of the forms of hands on activities
Classical education can be the best of all worlds in homeschooling.
